RYDER welcomed two emerald experts to our offices in March to showcase their expertise & emeralds in an informative gathering. It was a dual of emeralds and a number of our clients were here to take part in the experience.
Colombian or Zambian?

While commercial grade emeralds are quite plentiful, fine and extra fine quality emeralds are extremely rare. Geologically speaking, Colombian emeralds are said to be the purest emeralds in the world because Colombian emerald deposits are the only ones on earth found in sedimentary host rocks rather than in igneous rock. Only 1% of the world market are Colombian Emeralds. They are prized by celebrities and royal world-wide.
Value for Money
The popularity of Zambian emeralds has been on a rise over the past few years. It has enabled the country to gain a reputation of being one of the greatest sources of Emeralds. In the world of Emeralds, Zambia is still considered to be the second best as far as the production of such eye catching emeralds is concerned. While the value of the Zambian emeralds keeps increasing, the prices are considerably lower as compared to the ones which are mined in Columbia.
